University Contest

Terms of participation in the ‘Heimtextil University Contest 2024‘

  • Messe Frankfurt Exhibition GmbH, located at Ludwig-Erhard-Anlage 1, 60327 Frankfurt am Main, Germany, will host the ‘Heimtextil University Contest’ during Heimtextil 2024 which will take place from 9 to 12 January 2024 in Frankfurt am Main. As part of the ‘Heimtextil University Contest‘, three universities will be honoured for their graduates’ projects and will have the opportunity to present themselves and the entries in the Textile Design segment in Hall 3.0 near to the Heimtextil Trend Space. Information regarding the beginning and end of the contest is available at www.heimtextil-newandnext.com. Messe Frankfurt Exhibition GmbH reserves the right to cancel the ‘Heimtextil University Contest’ at any time without stating any reasons or to end the contest prematurely.
     
  • Participation in the ‘New & Next University Contest’ is open to all universities offering textile design programmes or related studies. By participating in the contest, the university accepts these terms of participation.
     
  • To participate in the ‘Heimtextil University Contest’, universities will be required to submit up to three projects created by graduating students or alumni of any of the aforementioned fields. Entries must be submitted to Messe Frankfurt Exhibition GmbH online at www.heimtextil-university-contest.com. Projects submitted may not be more than 6 months old.
     
  • To submit their application documents, universities must register at www.heimtextil-university-contest.com. Participation will be restricted to universities that provide all information required for registration and provide all the required documents completed and in accordance with the specifications regarding deadline and form. Universities can enter only one application each.
     
  • All application documents must be submitted in English. The jury will not evaluate any documents provided entirely or partly in any language other than English.
     
  • When registering, each university must provide Messe Frankfurt Exhibition GmbH with the name of a contact person. Such contact person will be in charge of all communications with Messe Frankfurt Exhibition GmbH in connection with the ‘Heimtextil University Contest’.
     
  • Responsibility for the accuracy of the data provided on the application to participate in the ‘Heimtextil University Contest’ will lie solely with the university. All information and documentation provided must be accurate; otherwise, the university may be banned from participation in the contest.
     
  • By submitting its entries, the university grants Messe Frankfurt Exhibition GmbH (and its affiliates) the non-exclusive right to store the graduates’ projects in a digital form for an unlimited period of time and to duplicate such projects and to forward such duplicates to the members of the jury for evaluation purposes and for archiving after such evaluation has been completed. Messe Frankfurt Exhibition GmbH reserves the right to use and exploit all of the documents submitted for the purposes of participation in the ‘Heimtextil University Contest’ including, but not limited to, photos, videos and illustrations, in any manner whatsoever for editorial publications and for purposes of marketing and promoting Heimtextil and Messe Frankfurt in any media including, but not limited to, post-event coverage and, in particular, online on the event website and in social media channels such as Facebook and Instagram.
     
  • Responsibility for obtaining the rights to the graduates’ projects submitted including, but not limited to, industrial property rights and personal rights will lie solely with the university. No third-party rights may be infringed upon.
     
  • By submitting its application documents, the university warrants its ownership of the rights required to use such application documents or, respectively, the existence of an uninterrupted chains of rights, and confirms that no third-party rights are infringed upon.
     
  • In the event of an infringement on any rights, the university will release Messe Frankfurt Exhibition GmbH from any and all third-party claims resulting from such infringement. Such release will include the reimbursement of expenses incurred at any time by Messe Frankfurt Exhibition GmbH in the exercise and/or defence of its rights.
     
  • Participation in the ‘Heimtextil University Contest’ is free of charge. Winners will each receive a 6 square metre space including stand construction (all-in stand) in the Textile Design segment in Hall 3.0 at Heimtextil which will take place from 9 to 12 January 2024 in Frankfurt am Main, Germany. A total of three spaces of equal value with all-in stands will be offered to the winners, meaning that three universities will be selected as having submitted winning entries in the ‘Heimtextil University Contest’. No cash payments will be made.
     
  • An independent jury appointed by Messe Frankfurt Exhibition GmbH will decide which of the participating universities receives the prizes in the ‘Heimtextil University Contest’ and thus have the opportunity to present themselves and the projects they submitted at Heimtextil in Frankfurt am Main free of charge in the respective area.
  • The jury will base its selection of the winners on, among other criteria, the level of innovation, information, sustainability and creativity of the entries. The jury’s decision is final. Reasons for the jury’s individual selections will not be given.
     
  • Entry Deadline: 01.09.2023
     
  • Winners will be notified by e-mail in the beginning of October 2023. Messe Frankfurt Exhibition GmbH reserves the right to present the winners and/or the authors of the graduates’ projects and their relevant data including, but not limited to, their names, the names of the universities and, if applicable photos, online including, but not limited to, on the event website and on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter and as part of post-event coverage. Messe Frankfurt Exhibition GmbH will not be liable for inaccurate or incorrect information.
     
  • The universities selected by the jury as winners of the ‘Heimtextil University Contest’ will be required to staff the all-in stand allotted to them by Messe Frankfurt Exhibition GmbH with at least one person on every day of Heimtextil 2023 during the respective business hours and to present the projects they entered into the ‘New & Next University Contest’. Responsibility for the stand presentation will lie with the respective universities.
     
  • Beyond the prize, Messe Frankfurt Exhibition GmbH will not reimburse the universities for any expenses incurred in connection with their applications and/or the presentation of their stands at Heimtextil.
     
  • Messe Frankfurt Exhibition GmbH will take photos and film footage of the ‘Heimtextil University Contest’. Messe Frankfurt Exhibition GmbH reserves the right to use and exploit such photos and film footage in any manner whatsoever for editorial publications and for purposes of marketing and promoting Heimtextil and Messe Frankfurt in any media including, but not limited to, online on the event website and in social media channels such as Facebook and Instagram. Messe Frankfurt also reserves the right to state the names of individuals and their functions.
     
  • Should any of the provisions of these terms of participation be or become invalid, the validity of the remainder of the provisions will remain unaffected.
     
  • The jury’s decisions are final.
